Salute The Magpie

Salute the magpie,
the solitary one without even a mirror-friend.
Turn a circle on the spot,
recite the rhyme out to its end.

In time, more arrive.
In time, a future told and spoken,
in magpie voice,
talisman and token.

Then, old love,
it is well enough to go
regardless wounds or weather
even so.
______

a 55 for my BFF.

  1. Even when ill, you knock your poem right out of the park. I especially like this one.

  2. Shay--As usual, when you use rhyme, it takes me half a poem to realize it, because it's so seamlessly done.

Merry Christmas, and may 2018 be a wonderful year for you.

  3. I especially love stanza 2. This is a spell which speaks of a bright future.

  4. This makes me think about perseverance, despite sadness. It also has a kiss of magic giving it a fairy tale feel, which I find irresistible.

  5. This is what I meant by 'glass for magpies..." a treasure where others see ruins, and a spell that once found, turns the world. A shining 55, dear Shay, and one that couldn't please me more, especially since you did what I love best, work your magic in rhyme. I hope you're feeling better.

  6. Some days, regardless of how shiny things are, only hello and goodbye will do.

  7. Some days add...some days subtract. Living takes a bit of hope to keep night from swallowing us in its curtain.
