Thanks, C. Elizabeth. I wasn't sure if others would like this poem, I just knew that I do. It makes me really happy that it resonates for you and Susanna, too.
tres cool and original, Shay, I used to know a girl who kept her life, a diary on rubber bands, writing the day in about on or two sentences, all printed on different colored rubber bands, of course little me became so in awe of her, she was an original just as you are
Cynthia, you are too sweet by half. Thank you. And, again, I am really tickled that you gals all liked this...certain of my own poems are very hard for me to see impartially.
And Cynthia, what an image i have in my mind of your friend. I'm glad you told me about her.
"Look at all the shit you've done You wrap your life in rubber bands"
So this girl is the "bad seed" you just want to hold and fix and love.
The thing about rubber bands is that they are too tight/binding and they eventually break, probably causing someone a lot of pain. Maybe she's tying her hands together, trying to keep from doing more damage to herself and others.
Your poetry really does a paint a picture for me. I can SEE Chokecherry...her mouth, skin, hair...the expression on her face.
ReplyDeletePS - And your comment to me also painted a picture for me...I can just imagine you walking by that empty amusement park.
Susanna, thank you for your comment, I'm really pleased you like this one and can see her. It's a simple poem but I'm partial to it.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, that abandoned amusement park always tugged at my imagination and my emotions. Your photographs really made me think of it again.
I really enjoyed this, especially the images it creates. For me I get a mix of sensuality and pain

I REALLY love this one! I love all your poetry, but this one is one of my faves!
ReplyDeleteMine too, Tinker. I'm so glad you commented on this one. ;-)
