Pictures

I placed pictures
of us
on my wall.
(a white wall.)

From trees came
steps,
frames,
doors.

I set a soft gray rug
in the entryway,
and if you arrive

(after I've gone to bed)
I'll hear you

sigh
and take
the first stair.

Yes, that sigh says a great deal. Loved this, Shay.

How spare, rich, lovely! All cats are gray in the dark, all lovers quicken one's pulse - esp in the dusky dark

A very sweet poem; a first stair is also a first step here; it is (to me) a very subtle way to talk of reconciliation. k.

Lovely. Even with that soft rug, I'll hear you, am listening for you.

The subtle impression of pain is really effective!
