Itinerary On The Fly

Do not place
your piano on the tracks.
Do not bind to a base

A bird of any kind.
Still, facts are facts
and the unforeseen may occur

Without warning--without a word.
"I knew a tune," says the man.
"I knew the sky," says the bird.

And so they sit with what they know.
Man and bird at peace in place
with one stop left to go.

for The Sunday Muse #74.

  1. I love the title of this - very pun-nish. I like that they bird says he knew they sky. The piano looks a bit like a Wurlitzer organ like we had when I was a teen. But I bet the old guy can rock it out.

  2. I absolutely love the last two stanzas Shay! A powerful punch from a little bit of words that speak volumes!! I agree with Toni, I have a feeling that old guy can rock out the organ for sure!

  6. Yup... this agreement between the bird and the musician is excellent... Now it's time to switch from Charlie Parker to Tom Rush
