The merciless T-Rex takes a cold delight in tearing its victim apart, biting to the bone and seeking out the tasty morsel of the heart, which it cannot chew but devours by tossing its head back and swallowing whole, followed by a satisfied bellow.
Though they write little of note themselves, the T-Rex often finds a position as editor of a poetry journal or publishing house. Seeming to grin, the T-Rex copy-pastes "Thank you for letting us see your manuscript. However...." The T-Rex will never see you as anything more than a plodding plant-eater. Might I suggest a more sensible career, for example dental assistant or elevator repair technician.

Friends, and a book review
One of the best things that can happen is to find a good friend, someone you can share your stuff with, the highs and lows, the triumphs, tragedies and trivia of daily life. It's even better if that friend becomes an old friend by sticking around through all of the twists in the road.
I have the good fortune to have the world's best BFF, Joy Ann Jones, aka Hedgewitch. She has kindly written a fantastic review of my newest book, "Catechism For A Girl On Fire", on her blog. Please go read it HERE. Honestly, I am humbled by her kind words about my work. Joy, you're the best.

Nickel & Rose
I would go to Mass, if I could be alone there
to love the dim light, the flowers,
and place a nickel in the plate, when the nickel is all I have.
We hang on our crosses,
hang around after death,
hang our hopes on a rose stem that bends and vanishes.
Here is a rose.
Here is a coin.
Here I am, tiny in this vast space.
I would go to Mass, if you would come with me.
If you would whisper to me that's it's all true,
and does not die--
the dogs I've had,
the women I've loved,
and the men, too.
"Peace be with you."
"And also with you."
I think,
peace is overrated;
give me a dream about a nun's kiss
and a sacred heart that stays, like a nickel in a rose bower.
_____
139 words (so sue me) for Magaly's "Dearest Book, I Wrote You A Poem."
The book I wrote for is Robert Girardi's novel "Madeleine's Ghost."

fine.
A struggling author approached his friend William Ross Wallace who sometimes listened to the author's "not yet published poetical work".
"Wallace, I have just written the greatest poem that ever was written." Wallace listened and pronounced it "fine."
"Fine? Is that all?"
The author? Poe.
The poem? "The Raven."
He made nine dollars from it.
______
source: "The Beautiful Cigar Girl" by Daniel Stashower.
55 fine, nice, interesting words for G Man.

IT'S HERE ! OUR NEW BOOK !
Well, if they are Mama Zen, queen of the short form and a natural born storyteller; Hedgewitch, noted form maven and mistress of the mythological; and Fireblossom....um....celebrated doorstopper, they might combine to write a book. And we did!
Our book is called Gemini/Scorpio/Capricorn, and it contains three sections, one with my poems, one with Kelli's, and one with Joy's, plus a little surprise featuring each of us, at the end of the book.
I speak for all of us, I'm sure, in thanking Marian at ALL CAPS PUBLISHING for helping us make this book a reality!
Even Catblossom can't contain herself: "It will do, if there's nothing on cable. Besides, Simpson is good looking."
I have wanted to do this since forever; putting this book together with such talented friends only makes it even nicer.
Now go buy it. We need the money!
