( I wrote this a while back, but set it aside. Here it is now. )
I cannot bear kindness--
I might shatter
At the slightest gentle word.
Just pretend you think I'm pretty--
I'll leave a dollar
And some smaller coins stacked nice.
Let me count the Tower ravens--
And bring a cup
That's made of ice.
Bring my tea and silver blade--
Leave them solemn as a bird;
Place an apple on my napkin
And make sure I'm not disturbed.

Shay, you sure have a way with words and you share those words with us who are not so endowed with that talent.
ReplyDeleteIt is good that we each have our own (talents)..it is bad when we do not use them. I 'm guilty somewhat of that...but as in everythint else--getting better.
Glad you're here--Steve E.

ReplyDeleteThank you, dear one.
ReplyDeleteEverything they said above (And more!)
ReplyDeleteAnd fyi, you are pretty in every way.
It's just a parlor trick, Steve. But I'm glad to share it. I'm glad you're here, too. :-)

"Just pretend you think I'm pretty--
ReplyDeleteI'll leave a dollar And some smaller coins stacked nice." Seriously, Shay, this is me. I've spent my life this way. In my mind's eyes I'm sort of like a little kitten, licking everyone, purring, asking them to love me.
OH, I didn't get a chance to log on yesterday, so I am late catching up, but this is just beautiful. I think you described many in this one! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteJust don't claw the drapes, Pouty. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks as always, T, dear friend.
