Nice to see you again.
Nice like slamming the door on my hand,
Nice like cramps,
Nice like kiss my ass.
I wish I had back every word I ever said to you,
So that I could eat them,
So that I could shit them smack in the middle of that sanctimonious crap you call sobriety.
Nice to know you're alive.
Nice like a stick in the eye,
Nice like fuck off and die.
Thought I'd forgive and forget?
Fat chance.
Nice try.
Love was the drug,
But hate is the high.
______
Oh my...I have felt this before. Love was the drug,But hate is the high. What a great line!!
ReplyDeletedammit all, i loooooove this!
ReplyDeletedamn...love the snarky attitude...set them straight...
ReplyDeleteBoy, ain't that the truth.
ReplyDeleteLove the last line, sums up the rage! Some say the other side of love is hate.
ReplyDeleteThis is f..k..g profound and straight to the point. Well worded
ReplyDelete'...sobriety...love was the drug/but hate was the high'
This should be a poster
xo xo xo

Those final lines are epigrammatic!
ReplyDeleteA universal truth in two lines.
Bring the 'tude and let it rock--I'm all for people hearing the truth, especially the sanctimonious, usually the first to preach and the last to listen. Last lines are indeed sharp, but I also like the second stanza for its uncompromising honesty and up front analogy.
ReplyDeleteNice like a stick in the eye -- I like how that 3rd stanza sandwiches in some childish pissiness.
ReplyDeleteWOW... strong words ... powerful poem. I have a friend who writes a lot of angry poetry - she should love this!
ReplyDelete"Love was the drug,
But hate is the high."
What an ending!
Wow! I would not want to be on your bad side. Love Those final lines.
ReplyDeleteYES! DO make this into a poster! Last two lines are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI feel anger and resentment trickle through your words and I love the ending.
ReplyDeleteDo you feel better now?
ReplyDeleteIt felt as if a machine-gun just exhausted the whole magazine at one go! great conclusion.
ReplyDeleteI know several people I feel this way about!
ReplyDeleteWell now -- I am guessing he got the message.
ReplyDeletei get the feeling you are a bit pissed off at someone
ReplyDeleteprivate dreamliner
I now know what I want to have tattooed onto my body. But I need a big part, because that's a lot of lines. Perhaps I need to choose a part that keeps getting bigger?
ReplyDeleteWow!
When I saw the title, I thought of the Dixie Chicks' song "I'm Not Ready to Make Nice." Yours has even more bite...
Woooohooooo....those last lines are like razorblade frosting on a cake made from rusty nails. I still feel the sting....ohhhh yeahhh!!!
ReplyDeleteNow, that is a rant!
ReplyDeleteGod, I love this! -especially the end.
ReplyDeleteDearest Shay...
ReplyDeleteRemind me to stay on your good side.
Thank You...G
I generally look askance at angry breakup poems, but this is so clean and tight that it's hard to dislike it. This piece knows when to say enough is enough on many levels; it's very solid work.
ReplyDeleteReally, I wish you'd stop beating around the bush and tell us how you really feel ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, Shay, I agree with G-Man—I hope I never piss you off.
ReplyDeleteLuv, K
Spit out like snake venom, blinding and ultimately deadly.
ReplyDeleteActually, it is an adorable rant... As long as one isn't on the recieving end of this. I can just see her best friend raising a glass and saying "here, here".
ReplyDeletedo you watch Revenge?
ReplyDeleteAhhh, there's the fire Miss Blossom.
ReplyDeleteYay for Firefox ... Betcha these sentiments were at full boil while the mouth opened and said, simply, "keep coming back ..." These unmailed letters marked "For landfill only" show that just because we behave decent so we don't get cut off from life support (the meetings) doesn't mean the raging heart doesn't have A LOT to say ... The Word Garden is a sort of landfill, wouldn't you say, or the garden that grew over it? - B
ReplyDeleteonly self-absorbed assholes think that someone will not only forgive them, but forget... and why should we?
ReplyDeletethis is righteous, dude!
