she is the land in shadow
and the starred sky.
Tersha has cats with flame tails--
she presses her cheek to them;
singing, they go up in smoke.
Tersha's hair is dreamside dark--
to touch it is to sleep on the center line,
smiling under a white moon.

mysterious but not scary. :)
ReplyDeleteEach stanza is immediate and evocative - but the last is amazing. What a lasting impression you leave us of this person.
ReplyDeleteOctober-licious, Shay. You're a fountain of endless creativity. I envy you. xo
ReplyDeleteShe leaves me with an impression of the dark lure of danger.. Esp. That last stanza is haunting
ReplyDelete.. does Tersha fear the Fireblossom? I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteAs always, this is full of both sensuality and singularity--plus its own full moon magic, and the brisk breath of an autumn that would love to linger longer, dragged so reluctantly away. Lovely, Shay, and it feels just absolutely natural in length, not one extra or missing word.
ReplyDeleteThis is utterly lovely. The starred sky, the white moon. Sigh. Love sleeping on the center line smiling under the white moon.
ReplyDeleteWhew! Well done! It swept me away. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteSometimes our deepest passion is both lovely and dangerous...I felt the braiding of these both in this Shay. Lovely...and I love that song...I have always been a BIG Stevie Nicks fan. :-)
