Black & White

Few things in life
are black and white--

so they say.

There is a small world, hidden and spinning,
that I call my heart.

It has days,
nights.
Black,
white.

Oh what I wouldn't give to see your trusting smile one more time.

I have a new friend,
and she's a gem--

better behaved than you ever were, at that age--

but I can't help this rocking with my arms around myself, sometimes.
Black,
white,
and this silly mama crying

because you are gone and I don't know how to be in this world without you.

  3. I am rarely on line these days, so glad I had an opportunity to read this touching poem about your Bosco ... take care, Shay.

  4. Of course this could be about a person as well as a dog--we miss them both terribly and sometimes the well-behaved, though appreciated, don't take us as strongly as the ones we knew when we too were younger and possibly less well-behaved. A very sweet poem, Shay. k. (Manicddaily)

  5. Shay--Bosco was some dog. But it sounds like your new girl is carving a place in your heart.

And there is no sweeter life than the life a well-loved dog leads.

(In regards to the "no book" status, I could try and blame the postal service, but alas, I cannot. The blame lies on my procrastinating nature.

I'll try to send it this week. Sorry.)

  6. I know, Dear. You say what is felt so beautifully. Bosco will misbehave just right at the Rainbow Bridge. I'm counting on it.

  7. The wrapping your arms around yourself got to me . . . glad you have a new companion and although they can't ever replace Bosco hopefully they bring a light of their own.

  8. Humans and a beloved pet leave a scar when they are gone. We can live with a scar but it is always a reminder. I'm sorry for your loss but happy another dog is going to be loved.

  9. Oh, Shay...this one grabbed my heart. It's true we do move on, but we don't lose the ones we loved and who loved us. They always stay in our hearts.
