The wrought iron railing doesn't care
if it rains or shines.
All around,
the storm makes colors go deeper,
branches bend,
and the earth go soft and shifting.
Come rain or shine,
the wrought iron railing keeps its pretty, unchanging curves;
lovers may lean against it til the weather breaks,
but they spread their blankets
beneath the trees.

ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful... like that the railing spread their blankets beneath the trees ~
ReplyDeleteI am going to second what Heaven has said. You make rain absolutely wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIs it too late for National Elephant Appreciation Day?
ReplyDeleteOkay, another reason for me to be pissy.
ReplyDeleteTHIS is what you end up after looking at some wrought iron? All I would see is a railing. YOU see the makings of a fabulous poem.
Pissy, I am...
Reminds me of the electrified fence that lined a fence next to the bus stop I took to elementary school as a kid. The fun thing to do was to see how long you could hold on to it. I never lost.
ReplyDelete...ya know, thinking about it, I think that explains a lot about me.
Wish I can be that railing on some days.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. I'm with Sioux - you get such romance and beauty from a piece of wrought iron. I am rending my garments again. :)If I found the Holy Grail, I couldnt write a poem that good!!
ReplyDeleteOh, really beautiful. It is almost too close to the real thing...the rainy days to come, the feel of slick wrought iron when walking in neighborhoods, spreading blankets beneath trees....wait, scratch the last one--I have never spread blankets under a tree in the rain, not that it doesn't sound delightful if it were a soft rain, which it rarely is here. :)
ReplyDeleteStunning, love the view you have provided~
ReplyDeletelove it... :)
ReplyDeleteI loved it too..:D
ReplyDeletedivisive
