From Bone To Lace Edge

Don't let your wings drag in the sand.
There's only so much white from bone to lace edge.
If you need to, borrow from the clouds.
Fill yourself with rain.
Remember that lightning on sand makes glass.
Walk on the sky when you get the chance.

Don't let your wings drag in the sand,
no matter gravity always trying to work you.
Feathers fill in one at a time--
there's all day or there isn't.
Earth turning will create its own breeze.
The sky is in motion, sure of its place from any angle.
Everything is ready, ongoing, self-defined.
You should be, too.

  1. "Walk on the sky when you get the chance" is an especially a lovely line, Shay.

  2. Love the wisdom that flows in this Shay! It is a lovely and magical poem with laced edges of wisdom to impart. You really got me with that first line..."don't let your wings drag in the sand." I love the repetition of it...I would love to hear you read this one aloud. Thank you for participating with the Sunday Muse again Shay. It is always a delight to visit your blog!

  3. This is simply glorious to read, especially after writing two depressing poems. It is pure magic. I love it.

Most poetry makes me yawn, shrug, or pissed off.
    Your always lifts and separates!

By the way: whatever you need to borrow of rain and ice crystals and dust-speck-nuclei? How much you need?

    Aloha, Cloud

  5. I love the blend of imagery and down to earth musings here, common sense with wings, and while I don't like to quote as comment, I can't help saying this is especially well-crafted: " Earth turning will create its own breeze./The sky is in motion, sure of its place from any angle." A breath of fresh air, Shay, not least that last line.

  6. The single line statements make a huge impact, Shay. Much to ponder here of your wisdom and words.

    - wow - that is just stunning! And as Hedge noted: the line about the earth turning and creating its own breeze/sky sure of its place from any angle - this really just makes my day - (and it's been dazed/days since I've been internauting) -and this is equally fresh and wonderful as since you've first posted it -

I like this piece just because it offers so much in so few words :)
