"What is it like?" she asked me.
It is like
Carrying clouds around in my pockets;
When I want music,
I take them out and shake out the birds.
So the birds asked me,
"What is it like, loving her the way you do?"
It is like
Carrying clouds around in my pockets;
All day, the winds blow west to east,
Moving through me, shaking out poems like these.
______
Shake out the birds and you get music...I love it!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so freaking talented.
ReplyDeleteYou are also now gracing my blogroll.
Thanks for goosing me about it, LOL!
Aloha, Poet-Friend!
Comfort Spiral
The winds blow...moving through me...shaking out songs and poems. WOW!
ReplyDeleteGotta tell you, in a doctor's office--or any waiting situation, I simply turn on the music. Been playing so many years, I can play many symphonies, operas, ballets and songs for my ears only--doesn't bother a soul! And this happens at will.
I love the way you describe though, beautiful. Made me think what a gift you have in music and poetry, and I'm sure--others!
Peace Fireblossom!
You have captured heaven, in lines totaling eleven :-)
ReplyDelete'clouds in your pocket' that is pure brilliance!
ReplyDeleteHow *do* you do it? You are seriously the most gifted poet I have ever read.

Yeah, let it blow, let it shake them out... they are a summum of beauty and cleverness.
So... that's the way you do it! Now you've told your (wonderful) secret... I'll copy it- If you don't mind (I see no copyright, so...) ;)

ReplyDeletereally great imagery here. bravo!
ReplyDeleteBlowin' in the wind ... and I love your new header
ReplyDeleteFireblossom,
ReplyDeleteThis poem is worthy of its antecedents, and I know that you know of La Vita Nuova, also in the vernacular, also for Beatrice.
My only wonder is whether yours is, or is representative of.
No need to answer, to read is a joy.
Thank you.
Tschuess,
Chris
Aha! I'd like to come and stand beside you and see if the same wind could shake out some poems out of me!
ReplyDeleteSo perfectly light. I wish loving was always light; sometimes I'm afraid it will crush me.
