Live Poets

You said,
"We'll be famous when we're dead"
And the tarot told me that it's true.

Do you suppose we'll care, baby?
Or by then will we have
Better things to do?

Here's what I think--
An open page
Is like an open road,
Just point that thing and go.

No speed limit,
No cops--
At least none with power to stop us,
That much I know.

So if you'll just put your arms around me
Or let me put mine around you,
I promise there is nothing we can think of
That we couldn't do.

No one needs to know where we went
Or what we did--
Just keep that open mind...
"We'll be famous when we're dead"
But til then,
Sweetheart, what a ride.

We will have better things to do..but in the meantime a small dish of fame isn't a bad legacy to leave the kiddies...or the cousins, I suppose.
I like this road song, just add moonpies and RC Cola!

You are awesome :) Love this,

"Here's what I think--

Just point that thing and go"

That's what I love about writing, though I do have a nasty habit of living in my head.

I think I'd rather be loved by a small circle who understand me than famous to many who don't. But if you plan on kickin' it, quick sign my computer!

This made me think of Van Gogh because he wanted to be famous and he wasn't until his death... I love the reference of an open page is like an open road, that is awesome.

Love it every word--the best rides are all on that open page--reminds me just a bit of that Dylan line at the end: "You always said people don't do what they believe in, they just do what's most convenient, then they repent.
And I always said, "Hang on to me, baby, and let's hope that the roof stays on."

Maybe the dead, too, are bone to ride, but who cares? When a song is borne down the road. Hog heaven, I'd say. - Brendan

Aaaaack, I'm in LOVE with this poem! I want to marry it. I used to ride our big motorcycle with dual fintail drag pipes for years till I hurt my back. I miss that big ole vibrating motor between my legs and revving it up to about 95 on the open road. Tee-hee. Fabulous write, Shay and awesome photos, too. xo

I think we will all be 'famous' when we are dead to those who know us now and take us for granted. When we are they will consider our messages as they never did when we were alive.

The ride is the important thing. Whether a ride through the mind or down the road, it's all a great journey. Nice write!

How I'd love to be a famous dead guy. Now, if only I can tackle my procrastination problem and finish my book....

Love the spirit of it -- enjoy the journey to greatness. Don't think about the end, just enjoy the journey and each other. Awesome. :)

This took me back to the one and only time I ever rode a motorcycle... with a boy I was madly in love with.... a hundred years ago. The open road was powerful.

love it,

we do need to forget about fame and limitations, simply hold hands and let our free will lead us to a place,

an open book, an open road, free will, divine imagery.

This should be the poem for every writer or even artist. If you can't enjoy the ride for itself, then you really ride -- that's what passion is all about...the journey; not the destination.
