Scorp Angel

Often,
I come half awake
in the hour before dawn.

I keep my room dark
but I rest easy,
knowing that something is rising just east of my dreams.

Still,
nothing else is so pleasing to me
as simply knowing that there is you in the world.

Whether you are near me or not,
I always hear your voice in my ear,

and the sound is
soul-soothingly familiar
and sweet.

  2. We all need our angels when the dark is so deep...and they are even more beautiful in the light--the light that they bring. Beautiful and soft as feathers, Shay.

  3. Great photo! And loved the piece. It's funny how warm and comforting certain thought can be in the mist of half sleep.

  10. I love your new sidebar picture ... the old-fashioned girl with a computer. Her sweet ponytail and ribbon. Just lovely. :)

Scorp Angel. Now that is an oxymoron.

This is a beautiful poem; I especially like the first four lines.

  11. "Something is rising just east of my dreams..." Oh, yes, Shay. I'm all for angels visiting in dreams and in life. There are so many mysteries that "normals" (non-creatives) don't bother to investigate. We LIVE for those moments. And then the words pour forth... Loved this! Amy

  12. "Still,
nothing else is so pleasing to me
as simply knowing that there is you in the world." Oh, how I do understand that.

    (I love Jewel.)

((Guess what? I just sent a sample reader of Night Blooms to my Kindle cloud reader, which is something I have not tried yet on my tablet. You are my first, so to speak!))

  13. I liked this one, especially this line: "Still, nothing else is so pleasing to me as simply knowing that there is you in the world."

It makes me think of friendships and that makes me a bit sad. Some of my friends who I thought would always be the "voices in my ear" have gone. It's not to say, others may take their place, but there is an emptiness, a hole, for what used to be there and isn't anymore.

    A lovely poem, Shay:~)
