Shadow

This is dedicated to my friend, who missed me. You are more precious to me than you know.

Shadow

No one ever could teach me anything;
No more than
You'd try to teach stitchery to a squirrel.

Still, some things settle in anyway,
Like soap scent into a favorite shirt,

So that suddenly,
There I am riding with the sun at my back
And I see her,
My long-haired shadow--
The one I call
Pretty Girl.

  2. Brian, I was riding on my bike several days ago, when I noticed my shadow self riding just ahead of me. I was coming from the store where the checker had been kind of a bitch to me, and I said to my shadow, "never mind, Pretty Girl."

  6. Let's face it, we Pretty Ones have to stick together--because, the bitches.

    The whole world is a better place tonight for me after reading this. Thanks for wrestling your pen into submission long enough to post it for us all, who have missed you. A LOT.

  9. So good to see you back! Ah, you can't teach those squirrels anything, much less stitchery! Glad you're writing again, Pretty Girl.
