Why did you have to push me so hard?
Now I can't find my way back.
I know you did it because you "love" me,
But love shouldn't leave me bleeding,
Shouldn't leave me willing to do
Anything
Anything
Anything
To make it stop.
I know you did it because I am
Ugly
Stupid
Clumsy
Wrong;
And even if you stopped, I would take up the chant.
Why did you have to push me so hard?
Now I can't find my way back.

You write amazing poetry. I can really relate to the insecurity in this poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Grace, and welcome the my Word Garden. I hesitated to post this poem, but finally did. I'm glad it spoke to you.
ReplyDeleteI've added your blog to my links. :-)
Shay, the rawness of the insecurity expressed here is palpable. Wow!
ReplyDeleteSharkbutt says while we're speaking of raw, to tell Bosco, remind you-know-who about fitch.
That's really powerful.
ReplyDeleteThanks, S. This one lacks the poetic image, but I thought perhaps that it makes up for it in pure emotion. Sometimes there is no pretty way to say "I hurt."
ReplyDeleteAs for fitch, I sense a fixation with fitch and PIZZA! happening here, lol. Our pets seem to have one track minds!
Thank you Mama Zen. I really like your blog, The Zen of Motherhood, and have taken the liberty of adding it to my links. I hope that is all right. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'm glad you liked my poem. Is the name you like the name of my blog? If so, I got it from a Sara Teasdale poem called "Fantasy". It's posted at the bottom of my blog if you want to read it. Also, thanks for the encouragement I will keep posting my work :)
ReplyDeleteDeer ShayBoscosFoodchik, please tell bosco for me fank you so much for reminging foodchik about the fitch, her made it! yay!!!! me did the fitch dance!!! fanks, have a happy day, your friend, Sharkbutt
ReplyDeleteWow. A strong poem/voice. YOu speak
ReplyDeletefor many women and I'm sure men who
have been pushed too hard by someone under the guise of it's for
your own good.
The rawness of your voice, sometimes she needs to speak and be heard. As you know, I can relate... this is such a human reaction, and you are all girl and all woman...
ReplyDeleteGlad you posted.
Kx
Grace,
ReplyDeleteActually it was your name I meant. But I rerad and love the Teasdale poem as well. I shall definitely keep checking on your blog, and I love the music you've placed there as well!
Oh my word, Sharkbutt, the fitch dance! I'm sorry I missed that! *facepalms*
ReplyDeleteCynthia, one reason I decided to post this was because I felt sure that I was speaking for many, not simply for myself. I love your comments, always.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelly, and yes, I know this must speak to you as well. Your comments mean a lot to me, as does your friendship.
