This is an example of the "cameo" form for Real Toads Sunday mini-challenge. I have based mine on a very sweet scene from Rocky II, which youtube won't let me embed, so here is the link, which will open in another window.)
Shy girl
in a bright red coat
might not mind too much, she might like
marrying you,
but you'll have to lift her ear muff.
Don't forget to invite the
tiger.
_____
Wow - that's perfect.
ReplyDeleteYou sure got that scene down in a few short lines. Haha!
ReplyDeleteI DID know that Prine was a mailman in his former life. I'm assuming you know that Stallone wrote the screenplay/book for Rocky?
ReplyDeleteThat was a sweet scene. Your spirits got it down quick and true today.
(Joh Prine was wonderful last night. Older, his voice not quite as strong at times, but an unbelievable evening nonetheless.)
I love the have to lift her ear muff line.
ReplyDeleteSOOOOOO adorable.....I love the scene you've chosen, and the sweet poem it inspired.
ReplyDeleteYou should make wedding invitations for someone with this poem printed on them!!
That's a neat moment, and it shows how vulnerable both sexes are at those times, even big strong musclebound guys who can take tons of physical punishment are shy and afraid when it comes to opening up like that. And the look on her face--so unprepared for happiness she can't quite react to it. Your poem captures it all, short and every bit as sweet.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for adding the Follow by E-mail! My word verification was "undis" No lie.
nice...you really bring the scene alive in so few words...it is a very cool scene that you have chosen i need to go back and watch again....
ReplyDeleteWonderful picture and totally awesome cameo.
ReplyDeleteFunny, it's been so long since I've seen that movie that I don't remember much of it...but I remember that scene. So sweet. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteawwww! love it! ♥
ReplyDeleteSweet indeed and beautifully done, a little masterpiece of cinema on paper!
ReplyDeleteSweet video.. and your poetry form captured it beautifully ~
ReplyDeleteLoved it, Shay. And I love the inclusion of the tiger. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteGreat scene wonderfully encapsulated in your poetry. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteVery clever 'cameo.' You've got the form down pat.
ReplyDeleteI don't even have to follow the link to know which scene this is. My husband adores it and whenever he sees that it is playing he turns to catch that part (knows it by heart so can anticipate when to click on the tv). OMG, he's gonna love this post when I show it to him one day this week!
ReplyDeleteI love it too; it's absolutely charming.
Catchy and very clever. I really enjoyed this form, too.
ReplyDeletetrippy and yet I re-read this many times and each time a different image popped into my head
ReplyDelete.. another form ~ another wonderful poem! (I'm still waiting for my cameo)
ReplyDeletehow did I miss THIS!?
