Bashful

Don't smile at me.
I'll look away,
and then, all day,
I'll be thinking about it.

Don't stand nearby.
You'll find that I
back up,
probably into something,
knocking over the china.

Don't kiss me.
I'll surely blush,
and then I'll rush
to say something, anything,
quite idiotically.

Later,
I'll sigh,
dreaming of your lips.

  1. Ha.. first I love that picture, and being bashful and knocking over china.. sounds like love in reality.. filled with red faces and innate acting, and in the end that longing...

  2. Sweet. Makes me think of Oklahoma's "People will say we're in Love." Ha! Yours is the innermost, and your song is much much better. Shy, hush.

  3. This delicious let-me-be-me-in-my-own-space piece brings to mind Amanda Palmer's "I Want You, But I Don't Need You".

    Like it. A lot.

  4. Sounds pretty much like a picture of me. Lovely word choice as usual (oh God, you get me started on the repetition of myself).

Much love. Missed reading you SO BAD. <3

  5. Ah, the embarrassing difference between fantasy and reality, dream and in-the-flesh. One wants all that lovely attention until one gets it, sometimes. Love the Bosco look-alike--perfect pic.

    The photo is darling.

  7. This is a very romantic poem to me. There is something of the uncertainty of a new attraction which is very charming (brings back memories).

  12. I can relate to this, especially the breaking-things part. I used to be painfully shy, and sometimes I am still that way.

  13. Awesome pic! And yeah, we've all been there, but don't over analyze the situation, just go for it! It's best to act the idiot and apologize later than to never take any action. At least, that's been my experience...

  18. Ha, when I used to like someone, I would totally run out the door as fast as I could the minute he entered the room.....no wonder I'm still single, hee hee. LOVE the photo which is adorable.

  21. What a great picture!!! This one takes me back in time. I remember someone who made me feel this way. I actually did knock over a chair one time when he got too close.

Nothing came of it, but your words bring the memory as if it was yesterday and it definitely wasn't.

Great 55 and I'm so please the 55s are continuing:~)
