outside, the night, here sweet delight
inside the tale, outside rages
a frozen fall of rattling white
playing out on facing stages
outside, the ice, inside, the pages.

Your inside was a lot better than mine... it sounds really delightful
ReplyDeletelove this with lines like "a frozen fall of rattling white" the nod to Blake and of course the sweet delight of The Doors (we seem to have a similar playlist)
ReplyDeleteOh, this is a delight!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this!!! You capture the delight of being indoors reading on a cold winter day or night to perfection.
ReplyDeleteI like your contrasting images of stormy weather and staying warm with a good book!

DeleteA contented turnabout within a Blakean paradigm. Who can argue with that?! Stay warm, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI love the nod to William Blake, Shay, I think he would have liked this form. I also love the way you played with inside/outside. My favourite thing, ‘inside, the pages’, especially on a freezing, rainy February evening with the ‘frozen fall of rattling white’.
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how much I love this form, and what you've done with it, especially. It may be the most perfect piece of form poetry I've ever seen from you, and that is beating out some very tough competition. But there is something about the echo in the brevity that just puts this galaxies over the bar. Simple never looked so good, or worked so deceptively smooth.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem, Shay! I would definitely prefer reading indoors than being out in the cold.

Perfect (comfy) pairing of art and lovely Sparrowlet!
ReplyDeleteThe sparrow here pulls her wings in tight against the cold.
ReplyDeleteA clever and comforting write. Nice!
