Strawberry
I ate a strawberry. You wouldn't believe how fresh, how delicious, how cool and sweet it really was.
The thing is, it was the last of a particularly fine batch. I could have offered it to you, I suppose, but i didn't-- in fact, the thought never crossed my mind.
Thank you, Shay. It was my sad day when Janis J. died. I loved her and her songs, I still do. Those were the days, a band and group, it seemed, were under nearly every tree in most of the Houston parks. I would ride my motorcycle from tree to tree.
ZZ Top got their start that way too. Those days went bye bye also, we all got married I guess. ..
Every now and then, it's not that a person doesn't deserve the last bite... it's just that they no longer inspire the want that reminds us that one day they did. Then again, maybe it's as simple as the fruit being too damn good to share.
Sometimes the berry just goes to the one who deserves it. I love this.(and the song)
ReplyDeleteSo much sturm and drang from a simple cool sweet strawberry!
ReplyDeleteYou are one cool cucumber,

Sometimes things aren't meant to be shared! ;D This could read bittersweet-but I think it is rather delicious. We have to be selfish once in awhile!
ReplyDeleteAte my damn plums, too, didn't you?
ReplyDeleteToo few things go our way. And yes to Joplin, too.
ReplyDeletelaughing at mama zen. :)
