Looking For The Light

When you look in the right place, there it will be.
(I'm talking about light.)
Your eye interprets everything from within.

Blue skies, gray skies, all an illusion.
The light of your life isn't in a face or a star.
When you look in the right place, there it will be.

You have thought yourself a moon, reflecting.
Rods and cones are the heart's handmaidens.
(I'm talking about light.)

That person, that sunrise, they are lit because you lit them,
just as they lit you, from loneliness, darkness.
Your eye interprets everything from within.

  1. This is not only written extremely beautifully, it makes one think about light, inner and outer, and our interpretation of it. So wise. Just wonderful to read.

  2. ". . . they are lit because you lit them,
    just as they lit you . . . "

  4. This really rings true for me. I like the idea of people lighting up one another. It adds a whole new dimension to social interaction. I also like the idea that one can find light anywhere. This poem is one to read when one is having a down day.

  5. Wonderful. It is so true, it is the way we see things that gives them light. Suzanne - Wordpress blog - Wayfaring.

  6. Excellent poem and it caught the real heart of it - that light is seen from within. Great words and work.

  7. You know I love this form, and this is one of the best executions of it I've run across. It couldn't be more seamless and smooth
But the poem itself is what stands out for me, it's truth and its sheer dimple beauty. That last stanza is one of your best, and that is high praise indeed. Brilliant as pure light itself, Shay.
