Iris Indigo

Iris Indigo used to sing on shore and shipboard
with the voice given her by some broken, incandescent god
now and in the hour of her death, amen.

Loved by the moneyed and shanghaied,
tuxedoed and tommyrotters,

Iris Indigo
indiglorious
into everything,
indi gone.
_______

for dverse quadrille monday "indigo"

Music: Melody Gardot La Llorona

  3. Iris would fit right in among the dope girls of Soho.

  4. Great wordplay, Shay, and I would love to hear Iris Indigo some time. She kind of reminds me of Janis Joplin, with ‘the voice given her by some broken, incandescent god’.

  6. Not that I don't enjoy Iris Indigo's talent ... but can she sing it like Ella can?

  8. Shay, the name "Iris Indigo" resonates powerfully, and the shift from divine to "indiglorious" is a brilliant touch.

    Much love,

  11. Such a vivid portrait in so few words. I can see her dancing like a sparkler burning down, dazzling to the last second.
