Joan Of Arc (Maid of Orleans)
In 2006, when I had just started writing again, my girlfriend at the time made me sit down on a weekend evening much like this one, and listen to a song (she had made sure) I had never heard before. She said, that's you, you're Joan.
Sometimes when i feel down, I still like to listen to it. I like knowing that somebody thought I was Joan.
We dont just think you're Joan, Shay - we KNOW it! You think outside the box, like she did. You slay dragons with your pen - you go where no one has gone before - and, when we read your poems, the tops of OUR heads blow off!!!!!
Joan of Arc is a bit of a thankless role, my dear, but I can understand why you might be a natural for that...have you heard the Leonard Cohen song about her?

ReplyDeleteWell, I was going to say something amazing which basically boils down to , "I agree."
ReplyDeleteBut then Sherry posted before me and now all I can say is, "What she said!"
You ARE Joan.
and I am Marco Polo. (Read my post to understand that one :)
your friend knows you well...
ReplyDeleteyou know...i could think of little more fitting...so does this mean you are feeling down...dont feel down...you know we love you...
ReplyDeleteI would agree you are on a crusade...

"..I love your solitude/I love your pride..."
Due to unfortunate associations, I can't bear OMD.
