Aviary

GOD WATCHED A WOMAN SLEEPING

AND, BEING GOD, KNEW HER DREAMS.

FROM EACH BREATH SHE TOOK,

GOD MADE A PERFECT LEAF,

AND FROM EACH RIB, MADE

BRANCHES. WOMAN, WAKE, WHISPERED GOD,

AND WHEN SHE OPENED HER

EYES, SHE WAS MOTHER TO

EVERY EMOTION, EACH ITS OWN

COLOR, A DREAM BIRD RAINBOW

ABOVE HER, SINGING AND FLYING.
