Dragonfly Days

My mother said:

"Girls who whistle come to bad ends.

Carry yourself with grace,

And keep your hair out of your face."

But Mama, that's shit.

There is kindness and love

And pulsing blood--

That's it.

I am thinking about dragonflies.

They carry themselves with grace and live for just a single day--

Their beauty made sharper

By brevity.

  8. Excellent post.

I'd rather have a wonderful short life than a really boring safe long one.
