Sugar

Tell me your name--
like something sweet on a spoon,
still on your lips,
offered,
irresistible.

Tell me your name--
like something lethal on a spoon,
hidden out of sight,
indistinguishable,
prettily white.

Come down the Tunnel of Love--
no purse.
no wrap.
close your eyes.
come barefoot,
expecting glory, as the boldest explorers do.

  5. Oh, dear!!! You've colored me pink with this one!!

You should have seen the delight when I found that you were able to present that brief snippet from the video!! Love that shot and then the first two stanzas...I feel the crisp contrast between those...the implications of each, secretive...this sweet and lethal...so good!

Yes, and my smile grew...ol' nicknames that stick...it's fun!!

Thank you so much for writing, Shay, I enjoyed this!! :)

  6. Such a delicious first stanza, and like all rich and intoxicating things, the second shows its secret face, and the risk that is latent in indulging, but also the exhilaration, and the freedom. Just an excellent, crisp, perfectly worded piece, Shay. With a sweet aftertaste. (And I love the tags.)

  9. Just gorgeous! I love your unique approach (an oblique approach) to the prompt - as always you focus on the character, and she lends credence to the setting.

  14. Hmm. Those last two lines are quite the invitation and are the two opening ones! Can't decide which I like best. I think the next 21 places are going to be fun reading! Nicely done, Shay!
