Gatwick

Gatwick's in league with the devil
'flight delayed", she'll see you grovel.
Things left in small rooms upstairs
she lets reanimate there
to suck your soul, sour your nerves
turn your heart as cold as hers.
Gatwick's in league with the devil
"flight delayed", she'll see you grovel.

  3. The airport's definitely in league with the devil. You've captured the anguish so well. This was a unique piece of writing.

    1. Sunra, I was trying to get home from an absolutely disastrous visit to London. My flight was delayed, as was my connection in the US, and when I finally got home in a cab at about 2am, the cab couldn't get up my street because there had been a snowstorm, so I had to walk, with my bags. I have never flown since.

  8. Wow! This is incredibly dark and resonates with me as I think back to the times flights were delayed and we had a nightmare of a time getting back home. Especially moved by; "Things left in small rooms upstairs she lets reanimate there to suck your soul, sour your nerves." 💘

  9. Cutting edge sarcasm, bang on message, and rocked the socks off the prompt. Damn, I remember when flying was fun. People met you at the gate. They served meals in coach.

  10. I was at Gatwick once and the drive from Gatwick to Heathrow was so scenic. But after reading this I don't think I would like to go there to have my soul sucked!
