The Hungry Pussycat

The cat who ate Minnesota
Made a sandwich from both the Dakotas,
Then started in on Wisconsin
From room service at the Algonquin.

This naughty cat
Proceeded to bat
Iowa into Wyoming;
Then ate Missouri
In quite a hurry
After a careful de-boning.

Milwaukee was next to go down the hatch
But she kindly avoided Chicago;
Hats off to a kitty who understands
What to eat and what not to.

Her thirst she did slake
With several Great Lakes
And for afters, a bit of Ohio;
Come back later this week
When she's liable to sneak
A large chunk of Athens and Cairo.

  11. I see you (too) have a most excellent cat with quite a healthy appetite. Eating his way through America you'd think he was watching Guy Fieri's Drive-ins, Diners & Dives. What does he drive a corvette? --a cat taking Route 66 heading West. I love it! Gay (@beachanny)

  26. Clever, witty poem, cats can be like that though, or so it seems with my tow kitties -- who the dog gives them a wide berth, for he is wondering if he will be dessert.

    Fun, one stop,

  30. I had a dg once that ate the entire history of Europe... I damn near failed that class. You try telling a teacher "My dog ate my book", see what happens

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well, if the kitty drank enough water from the Great Lakes, invasive species (as well as the native ones) won't be a problem for Michigan anymore.

  32. LOL.. what a cat! :D hahaha! does she have a name, Fireblossom?

  33. Hello, Kitty! I understand a cat has needs. And so you needed a few states to fill up on. Don't let anyone tell you that your needs or hungers are too much. I do thank you for avoiding Chicago. So thoughtful of you. It is my hunch that Athens, Greece would taste better than Athens, Georgia.
    LOVE this. LOVE the way your mind works. And I LOVE that the first thing I read this morning was your comment and it made me laugh. Thank you, lovely you, for being my friend!
