Young me hit the road in the early morning

three days before the 4th of July,

left turn car didn't let me cross--

took to the air, then

and I'm feeling my body, my heart, my life,

tearing around that turn in the breeze and coasting,

back on the road again, just waiting for young me to catch up, flying.

  1. You're back on two wheels! Wheeeeeee! That's one very long road from then until now, but it sure is good to see you riding again.

  2. You have so many different "styles" as a poet! Oh, that's right. You don't write them. This writing spirit is very sentimental and sweet.

Great poem, spirit. There are times when I, too, have to wait for the young me to catch up, flying.

  3. Oh I love it! I remember the freedom of flying along counmtry roads back in The Day, when I still could keep my balance on two wheels. Now I long for one of those big three wheeled trikes for old geezers, but they are hard to come by. I love the way this poem looks on the page, curved just like you, going around the corner.....................

  6. Shape poems are cool I think--of course it goes without saying ALL poems by the genies on this blog are cool--but with this one you get all the fun of playing with a form, and all the freedom of the free-est of free verse. And the sense of exhilaration and freedom in this is overpowering. Keep coasting downhill as long as you can, girl, with the wind in your hair. It makes for great riding, and reading.

  7. Love the abstract style. So nice I read it three times :-) Looking through your site I find myself quite impressed with your work. Some of it is quite beautiful. Color me an insta-fan. Will be back!
