Angel Sweet

ANOTHER MIDDLE-AGED PERV GOES MISSING
Suddenly subtracted
Name redacted

One, then two, then three go missing
But before it hits four
It's rained ten more

Nobody thinks to blame Angel Sweet
The mumbling schizo
Of Sycamore Street.

Another perv emerges from night
Hung by his junk
From the traffic light

SAVE OUR PERVS! is heard the call
But their nieces and neighbors
Say nothing at all

Nobody snitches on Angel Sweet
The mumbling schizo
Of Sycamore Street.

unless you know the street; you won't understand the code of snitching -- you've captured an angle on the photo that i had forgotten...still it has a bouyant beat that one could walk to...your sycamore street or my 5th and walnut

This has the feel of a folk song or ballad, with the dark humour under-pinning a serious social issue. Really excellent work.

Go Angel Sweet! You're my idol!

Shay, I'll say it again (and again, and again) you rock my world!

I was tempted to post a poem titled "Medea" about serial killer Eileen Wuoronos. Angel Sweet's operatic swipes of the scythe here do the same job. Guess it take one to blow one away. Priceless tale -- priceless title, too. -- Brendan

The rhythm, the rhyme...very different than most of your poetry. H.I.T.H. do you do it?

I'm still percolating a fairy tale that has you and Pearl (http://pearl-whyyoulittle.blogspot.com) as main characters. Don't think you have escaped.

Ouch. I'm taking back roads today...
Brilliant—shows your range as a poet. Your "Angel Sweet stanzas" are startling due to a combination of depth and melodic nursery rhyming simplicity. A.maz.ing

"hung by his junk from a traffic light" and "his nieces and neighbors say nothing at all" - both very telling lines. You are the most amazing poet, and you never stop surprising me. GREAT writing!

As always, you create characters with whom it's impossible not to feel some connection, even if its that of unease and dismay. How the deadly is hidden, how the danger is disguised, how the laughter is mad...all neatly summed up in your Angel's little morality play.

Ah, Nice! Nobody tells on Angel Sweet--too scared they might be next. Love, love the rhyme and cadence, and of course as always the can't-look-away noir humor is you at your finest. Save our pervs!

You, dear one, went pretty much where I was trying to go with this one-- photo pretty much broke my never-fulfilled maternal heart. The portrait you paint is exact and satisfyingly brilliantly grim. xxj

Wow-worthy work. One of the best takes I've read on this photo; love the dark tale telling going on. =)
