4th of July Love Song

"Baby," you say,

As we sail around Saginaw Bay,

"I am as constant as that black shit all over the beach

I'm always within reach

And I'll always be loving you just this very way."

Oh baby,

When your lips are moving

What it's doing to me

Oh sugar,

When your lips

~such lips!~

Are moving,

Things are clearer to me

When your lips are moving

That's how I know you're lying.

You say, "Honeybun,"

As you shoplift a pack of gum,

"I am as constant as this always-open convenience store

You'll always want more

And I'll always be here to give you some..."

But baby,

When your lips are moving

It's like Heaven to me

Oh Pookie,

When your lips

~those lips!~

Are moving,

Truth gets nearer to me

When your lips are moving

That's how I know you're lying.

"Snookums," you say,

As we're navigating by the stars,

"I am as constant as the patient voice on the voicemail of your mind

You will always have my heart

And we'll always be happy just the way we are."

But Princess,

When your lips are moving,

It's enchanting to me

Oh sweetie,

When your lips

~such lips!~

Are moving,

You're even dearer to me

When your lips are moving

That's how I know you're lying.

  1. "I am as constant as that black shit all over the beach" - what's up with that shit?

This brought so many things to mind - how the ones who lie the best are the ones who capture our imagination; a summer romance which is always full of bullshit; and politiicans....yeah...my mind works that way.

Hope you're having a fabulous Fourth, Shay!

  2. It's true, Talon, there is all this black gunk on the beach there. From the nearby chemical plant, I'm told. Niiiiice, right?

  3. It's the pillow talk, those sweet promises in the dark, that can leave us feeling like that black shit all over the beach.

Hope all's bright and sunny and magical in your corner of the world today, my friend.

It's raining gatos y perros here today, but tonight there'll be fireworks! Woo-hoo!!

  4. Fabulous, Shay. I had to laugh out loud at the end. I just said to my husband yesterday, "You know how I know you're lying?" He replied, of coure, "No, how." I said, "BECAUSE YOUR LIPS ARE MOVING!" We had a good laugh. (He is a terrible liar...he could never be a lawyer. Ha!) Blessings and Happy 4th!
